I would like to to introduce an indie/emerging designer, Denise Richard and her Fashion House Diary of Joli‘.

Based out of Houston, TX; Denise is the CEO/President behind the House of Fashion - Diary of Joli’.

Denise’s love for fashion began as a young woman in her native town of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Her mother constantly encouraged her be creative and also introduced her to garment making, while her father would photograph her creations.  Whether they knew it or not at the time, her parents love and support would provide inspiration to the young fashionista and begin her passion for fashion.

Denise would later attend Southern University for formal education in Engineering, briefly putting her hopes and dreams aside.  She knew that she wanted more…much more. Continue reading »

Thanks to the help of the popular social networking site, Twitter. I have connected with some amazing and talented people. As a result of my fashion filled tweets I have conversed with serveral stylist and designers, who I think deserve a fashion spotlight.

Today’s Fashion Spotlight : NIKERA CLOTHING.

Based in Virginia, Nikera Clothing is a young, hip, colorful, bold, funky line. Taking inspiration from vintage, street fashion, and music, this line has plenty to offer and more to come. A fairly new company, Nikera Clothing has fashion for both women and men.

I had the opportunity to interview the founder of the line, Nicholette Moore. This former model, stylist, and U.S. Navy veteran, is very focused yet open minded about her line. She is all about her clients, and plans to take them to the next level. I enjoyed talking to her. Check out our interview.

CSM:Who/What is Nikera Clothing?

NM: Nikera Clothing was founded by Nicholette Moore. Lover of all things vintage. ”I was bored with the current collections in my favorite department store so I decided to create my own era using a nickname my parents gave me, “Nikki”. The translation of NIKERA CLOTHING is “Nikki’s Era”.

I love anything Coach!! They are always coming out with something new, innovative, stylish and chic. I can walk into a Coach store and instantly fall in love with a bag or scarf or shoes. They are always doing something to recreate their style, yet they never change.

They have a new collection of bags called the Charm Collection which I think is very hot. It is kinda of what you expect from Coach but it is not boring. Its very chic and I can see anyone caring one of these bags from the collection this spring/summer season.

If you like any of these bags that you see, then go out to your coach store and get in some retail theapy. I promise, you will not be disappointed in your purchase!!

Everyone who knows anything about the fashion industry, knows that Anna Wintour runs the fashion industry!! If she says that a new designer is going to be the next “it” designer, then most people in the industry are awaiting for this designer to make a line and go out and buy that designers clothes and go to their fashion show. The will instantly be put on the map, just because Ms. Wintour said that he was hot.

Well the September Issue is a documentary about how the biggest issue of Vogue magazine of the fashion season is created and focuses on Anna Wintour and her staff at Vogue. No, this is not the Devil Wears Prada all over again. Though, the Devil Wears Prada is a very great movie for any fashion lover, this documentary is quite different. You will see how Ms. Wintour interacts with her team at Vogue and what goes on in her daily life. You will judge for yourself of what you think of Ms. Wintour. The Devil Wears Prada and The September Issue are a like but different in many ways. No you will not see that Ms. Wintour is evil (because quite frankly I do not think she mean; she is just a perfectionist) and how much work that she does put into the magazine. She does truly love her job and everything about it.

I say that if you are a lover of fashion, then you should defintely check out this documentary. You will not be disappointed. I have seen this movie four times already and I want to see it again and again (but then again I am obsessed with the whole fashion journalism industry). So see for yourself of what really goes on behind the scenes of creating one of the most powerful fashion magazines in the world. I promise, you will not be disappointed!!!

The Telephone video with Lady Gaga and Beyonce has a lot of fashion ispiration in the video.  The fashion was all over the place in the video. The clothes looked great and the shoes were awsome in the video. Lady Gaga never fails to bring the fashion in her videos. The outfit that she wore while walking to her “cell” was very jailhouse chic. The other “inmates” in the video was very punk chic and had the best shoes that I have seen in a video in a long time.  There were a lot of studded underwear in the video which I found very interesting. As far as Beyonce goes, her fashion sense in the video was very interesting and not like the Beyonce that we are used to seeing. It seems like Beyonce her stylist was also Lady Gaga’s stylist; but that would make a little bit of sense because Lady Gaga dressed like Beyonce in the video phone video. All in all, I would say that the video for Telephone had more fashion than any video that I have seen in a long time!!

One of the biggest Spring/Summer 2010 trends is prints and patterns inspired by Africa. Easy enough for me because I’m always inspired by Africa, and you can often find me rocking a head wrap, bold jewelry or rich colors.

For those who are new to this trend, I suggest you start off with a couple items at a time. Starting with this bag by Givenchy. Perfect for everyday use. Big enough to hold everything, but not so big that people notice just the bag and not the fashionista holding it. Wear it with your other season trends such as nude, maxi dresses, rompers, and as a neutral to any bright color look.

I am loving all of the lace this Spring/Summer season. Its sexy yet classy, showing only what you want others to see.

I absolutely love this shoe from Dolce and Gabbana’s SS10 line. I would wear them bare or with tights.

What do you think?

Periodically I check payless.com to see what shoes they have snuck into their collection that can run the race with other designer shoes. And what do I come across….? These bad boys here!!!

I Ja’Dore Christian Sirano every since he was on Project Runway. He has sky rocketed with his line post-PR and has won the hearts of many with his shoe line for Payless.

I was looking to invest in a pair of Doc Martens, but they may have to wait until I get these.

Definitely the leading Spring trend of the nude shoe, but also a slight inspiration of the SS10 line by the late Alexander McQueen. Love it!

What do you think?

I love DIY (do it yourself) sites. Being on a tight budget, I can’t always afford to completely update my looks or replace slightly damaged pieces.
Although I am no longer in my teens, I love teen.com. Their craft videos give my ideas for days. Today I found one of their holiday videos. Kit Scarbo, a Project Runway alumni, shows how she turns scuffed shoes into new shoes. With a few accessory pieces and some glue, she craftily hides the scuffs on a pair of plain old shoes. Now personally the first shoe is out of my taste bracket, but the second design is definitely worth a try.

Check it out.

Today’s shoe of the day, Sam Elderman’s “Zoe” shoe. This bad ass, half wedge, biker chick bootie can be worn with skinny jeans or leggings. Rough it up with leather bracelets and chain linked necklaces, or sugar coat it with dainty pastel jewelry and a flirty mini dress. These booties are great from now to spring, and definitely should make a come back in the fall. On the top of my list of must haves, the “Zoe” bootie retails for $299.
